WP2: PV in Nordic condictions
Photovoltaic (PV) system performance is greatly impacted by the system’s operating conditions, which are primarily determined by the local climate, latitude, and the surroundings. Factors such as snow, solar intensity, temperature, wind, local terrain and type of land influence the output, reliability, lifespan, and optimal maintenance and installation strategies of PV systems.
We will leverage data from a variety of Norwegian solar installations to improve our understanding of the influence of the operating conditions in the Nordics on PV installations. We will also assess how PV systems should be adapted to different types of land. This will lead to enhanced models and new guidelines for installation, operation and maintenance of PV systems tailored to Nordic conditions.
Understanding social acceptance of solar energy is crucial in shaping policies and business practices that can minimize conflicts over PV plant developments. By integrating insights on social factors with findings on optimal construction and operation of PV power plants on different types of land we aim to identify solutions that harmoniously balance economic, ecological, and societal objectives in the Nordics.
